Menzies Prescribed Fire

The Menzies Prescribed Fire (PF) is an 11,000-hectare unit targeting an area of grassland and aspen parkland between Whitewater Lake, Gunn Lake and south to the park boundary. The main objectives of the PF are to restore natural fire cycles in the area and to improve the ecological integrity of grassland habitat within the park. The PF has two stages; guard ignition in the spring followed by main unit ignition in the fall.
