Peepeekisis Community Centre

The new Community Hub for Peepeekisis Cree Nation, is a single storey, building with spaces for various community uses including community hall, daycare, band office and convenience store. The floor plan, site plan and building are uploaded to this posting. Please note that the site plan shows a gas bar which is NOT part of the current construction project. If the gas bar is added, a separate environmental review project description will be submitted.

The new Community Hub will provide a safe, enabling and nurturing environment for staff, kids and general public, regardless of their individual challenges. This facility also allows for community integration in a building that is inviting and culturally relevant to those who visit. The building area will be 2,059 m2 with a expected lifespan of one hundred years. The site takes up approximately 1.5 ha including the gravel parking lot.
The building mechanical system includes two high efficiency natural gas fueled boilers supplying hot water to perimeter radiators. This system is supplemented by hot water being supplied to heat transfer in the air supply system.

The scope of work includes site development of the Hub grounds and gravel road access/parking lot. The community centre will be connected to existing water, sewer, electricity and gas along with telephone. The building will be connected to the community buried wastewater pipeline in the road allowance immediately south of the building site. Waste generated during operations will be disposed of in the Peepeekisis landfill.

The new Community Hub design accommodates a modern and comfortable space that focuses on embracing technologies, innovation and connecting learning to local and global communities that create a space for staff, kids and the general public to interact throughout.
