SaskPower's Power Generation - Ocean Man Solar Interconnect

This project is under SaskPower's Power Generation Interconnection Agreement and in support of a solar power project being developed by Second Wind Power Inc.  SaskPower proposes a short 275 metre (m) underground cable to carry the produced power from the Second Wind Power Inc. solar project to the electrical grid.  A pull-box, located adjacent to the solar project, will be the tie-in and terminus of this project.  The cable will cross federally controlled land.  The proposed project is located approximately 6 kilometres (kms) south of the hamlet of Handsworth, SK, approximately 18 kms north of Stoughton, SK, and adjacent to Ocean Man #69 I.

The project involves the installation of 275 m of 25kV underground primary cable from a take-off with fault indicators on an existing pole to a, to be installed pull box – rack cable.  The customer will tie-in at that point.  An approximate 3 m X 274 m ROW easement is required on parcel #109230779 to accommodate this work. Soils displaced during trenching operations will be replaced into the trench after the cable is laid.  No wastes are expected to be generated.

Spill response and containment material will be readily available on-site. In the event of an equipment leak, an appropriate soil remediation program will be implemented that addresses site-specific conditions (e.g., soil type, chemical properties of spill material).  SaskPower's Environmental Beneficial Management Practices will be followed.
