Notice of determination for SaskPower's - Ocean Man Solar Interconnect

February 19, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed SaskPower's - Ocean Man Solar Interconnect is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-Ocean Man First Nation applied to SaskPower for this project and it supports their economic development plan

-Ocean Man First Nation members will benefit from revenue from the 1 MW Solar Project, and the transmission line is required to generate revenue for the project

-no comments were received during the public commenting period

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address potential environmental effects related to:

-SaskPower Corporation has an Environmental Best Practices Manual that outlines best practices and environmental management practices to mitigate any adverse environmental effects
-the work is planning prior to spring migration and before the nesting period for migratory birds

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. If applicable, environmental effects that are within provincial jurisdiction would be addressed through provincial regulations. Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
