Reconstruction of the Bois-Sent-Bon Trail - Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area

The Bois-Sent-Bon Trail, 1,227.5 m in length, consists primarily of a boardwalk that has reached the end of its useful life. With the exception of the observatory located along the river and the wooden access ramps leading to it, all existing infrastructure will be replaced.

The project involves the complete reconstruction of the trail, including an increase in its width to improve accessibility for people with reduced mobility, notably through the installation of wheel guards. The work will be carried out in phases between winter 2026 and fall 2028 to maintain public access to the area and minimize disruptions.

Temporary trails and storage areas will be established to facilitate the work while minimizing impacts on the natural environment. Existing infrastructure will be progressively dismantled and reconstructed in accordance with the established phasing. Once the work is completed, the temporary facilities will be removed and the affected areas restored. Salvageable materials will be retained, while waste materials, including hazardous materials and non-recoverable treated wood, will be removed from the site and managed in accordance with applicable regulations.
