Edith Cavell Road KM 1.6 Slope Stabilization

Parks Canada is proposing slope stabilization work along Edith Cavell Road in Jasper National Park, at a location where the existing slope stabilization measure, an interlocking concrete block retaining wall, is beginning to fail due to increased erosion of the slope above following vegetation loss during the 2024 Jasper Wildfire. A site-specific, targeted approach will be used to address the area of instability, including slope flattening and the installation of an engineered control measure at the base of the slope along the roadway. The project is intended to reduce the hazard, protect the roadway, and support safe travel.
