ATCO Electric - Snaring Road Underground Conversion and Overhead Salvage

ATCO Electric Ltd. proposes to replace a 550 m section of aging overhead power line near Snaring Road with a new underground line. This existing line is deteriorating due to an encroaching wetland. The project includes tree clearing, cable installation, removal of the existing line, and restoration, including contouring and native seeding. The work is intended to improve reliability, reduce wildfire risk, and minimize long-term impacts on surrounding habitat.

Latest update

September 15, 2026 – Parks Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Parks Canada is inviting public comments until October 15, 2026 respecting that determination.
