Sandy Bay First Nation CFS Prevention Center Temporary Facilities (10 RTMs)

The purpose of this project is a feasibility study for the construction of a CFS Prevention Center in the community of Sandy Bay
Ojibway First Nation. This project will include the design and development of temporary and permanent facilities.
Infrastructure: Graded Lots, Drainage, Driveway and Parking Lot Construction, Overhead Power Lines, Water and Sewer
Service.
Activities: Clearing and Grubbing, Environmental Site Assessment, Lot Grading and Drainage, Driveway and Parking Lot
Construction, Lot Development.
Waste Generation:
Solids - Any solid waste that cannot be reused will be removed to the community landfill or another licensed landfill as
appropriate.
Gaseous - During construction, the equipment will emit exhaust gases and particulate matter. Maintaining construction
equipment to good working order and running equipment only when necessary will help minimize emissions.
Hazardous Materials - Fuel and/or other substances that may be required on site during construction will be properly labeled
and contained to avoid spillage or misuse. Spill kits will be kept on site during construction.
Liquid - Best management practices will be used during construction to prevent erosion and sedimentation in adjacent water
bodies.

September 28, 2024 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Indigenous Services Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
