Spruce River Dam Spillway Project

The Spruce River Control Structure, built in 1960 by the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration, regulates flow on the Spruce River and diverts water to Emma Lake and Christopher Lake to maintain recreational water levels. The structure is located about 55 km northwest of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, near the south end of Anglin Lake. WSA requires the stilling basin and spillway slab to be isolated, dewatered, cleaned, and maintained in inspection-ready condition to support a structural inspection.

Latest update

July 14 2026 – Parks Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Parks Canada is inviting public comments until August 13 2026 respecting that determination.
