Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc Stswékstem Engineered Waste Management Facility

The proposed project includes remediation of the existing Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc (also known as the Kamloops Indian Band) landfill, as well as the construction of a modern engineered waste management facility that will provide a full suite of services for the local indigenous community: including, a double-lined landfill with leachate collection and gas ventilation; organic matter compost facility; forestry wood waste chipping and sales; vac-truck deposition sumps, scrap metal storage and sales; and, construction and demolition waste management. The project is expected to operate for at least 35 years. It is located near Kamloops, British Columbia, approximately 1.2 km East of Highway 5 (Yellowhead Highway) on Tk'emlups te Secwepemc reserve lands (Kamloops #1).
