Reconstruction of a section of the Anse-à-Beaufils wharf

The port of L'Anse-à-Beaufils is located on the south side of the Gaspé Peninsula. This harbour is the home port of 16 commercial fishing vessels and is owned by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Pier 401, built in 1980, is affected by severe pile corrosion and deterioration of the concrete panels. As a result, Pier 410 must be rebuilt over a length of approximately 70 m.

The proposed concept is the reconstruction of a Berliner wall anchored directly to the façade of the existing wall. This minimizes fish habitat loss and avoids the complete demolition of the existing wharf. Since this portion of the wharf is located between the boat launch and a section of wharf made of steel sheet piles, the connection of the new structure will be carried out in a harmonious manner.  The reconstruction of this structure is essential to maintain the operational capacity of the port.

2026-08-03 - Public Services and Procurement Canada and Fisheries and Océans Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Public Services and Procurement Canada and Fisheries and Océans Canada are inviting public comments until September 4th 2026  respecting that determination.
