New Fibre Installation

Telus Communications Inc. plans to install fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to four (4) Indigenous residential homes in Okanagan, in British Columbia.

The project involves the installation of approximately twenty one point 5 (21.5) km of underground or aerial fiber optic cable as follows:

- One (1) km in NESKONLITH 1.

- Three (3) km in SAHHALTKUM 4.

- Four (4) km in OKANAGAN 1.

- Five hundred (500) m in MEADOW CREEK 3.

- Three (3) km in SALMON RIVER 1 (SPLATSIN).

- Five (5) km in ENDERBY 2.

- Five (5) km in Switsemalph.

The cable will be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments, or will be suspended on support structures to connect to residential homes and businesses.

February 12, 2026 – The public comment period on the project is closed.  Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
