Lubicon Lake Band - Phase 2B and 3 Housing Lot Development

Lubicon Lake Band is proposing to develop 26 lots in subdivision Phase 2B-3. The Project is a continuation of the Lubicon Lake Band Community Infrastructure Project which included the development of 2-acre housing lots within the Hamlet of Little Buffalo. Each lot will require an average of 2,000 m2 of land to be cleared as part of site development. The scope of work includes clearing lots, site preparation (including existing structure demolition, earth works and grading), utility installation of existing infrastructure (including sewer, gas and power lines). Road development, power lines, fiber optic lines and telephone lines are excluded from this scope of work.

A Valued Ecosystem Component Review was completed as part of the proposed project. Mitigation measures will be reviewed as part of the Indigenous Services Environmental Review Process for projects recieving Federal funding. The housing lots will be developed within a mixedwood forest. Habitat features for birds and wildlife are likely to exist within and near the project. Wildlife and nest sweeps will be conducted prior to any work taking place. No water courses are present within 30 m of the site. Traditional and cultural land uses are not located within the subdivision and the community was consulted prior to the proposal submission.     

Latest update

August 13, 2025 – The authority issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
