Puffin Island Fuel Tank Replacement
Fuel Tank Replacement The proposed project includes the replacement of three existing above ground storage tanks. The existing tanks consist of one 6819 litre main supply tank, including pump/hose reel assembly that is utilized to re-fuel two, 900 litre steel tanks. The 900 litre tanks provide fuel to an on-site generator and oil furnace, separately. The main 6819 litre supply tank and the 900 litre tank associated with the oil furnace will be replaced with new stainless steel, double walled tanks in the same footprint. The 900 litre generator supply tank will be replaced with a new fibre-glass, double-walled tank and will be relocated to inside the existing generator building. The old tanks will be decommissioned and disposed of in accordance with the CCME Environmental Code of Practice for Aboveground and Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum and Allied Petroleum Products and Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products Regulations. Tank replacement is likely to occur during the late Spring of 2021.
