Sediment Removal Under Syncrolift 2023

St.John's Dockyard Limited (NEWDOCK) is situated at the mouth of the Waterford River and west end of St.John's Harbour.  Over the years sediment from the Waterford River and movement of harbour sediment has resulted in sediment being deposited under the Syncrolift, thereby reducing water depths and NEWDOCK's ability to lower the syncrolift to accommodate deeper draft marine vessels.

St.John's Dockyard Limited (NEWDOCK) is proceeding with removal of sediment under its Syncrolift in March of 2023 to a water depth of -10.5m.  The removal of sediment will occur under the Syncrolift (blue rectangle) and in front of the Syncrolift (red rectangle).  The approximate quantity of sediment to remove is 4074 m3.
