Buffalo River Dene Nation Stage 5 Subdivision

The Buffalo River Dene Nation is proposing to construct a new subdivision to meet the community's need for current and future housing units. The proposed Stage 5 subdivision will provide up to 50 new lots and will occupy approximately 15 hectares of forested land. New infrastructure required as part of the subdivision includes high density polyethylene (HDPE) water main pipeline, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sewer main pipeline and manholes, water and sewer service lines, hydrants, roadways and drainage culverts, power and phone utilities.

Clearing and grubbing of the site is proposed to occur in the fall or winter to avoid the risk of harming migratory nesting birds. The extent of vegetation clearing will be kept to the minimum amount necessary to construct the new subdivision and to provide a fire break. Activities during construction include primary earthworks, new utility installation, sub grade construction, ditch construction, grading and landscaping.
