New Fibre Installation

Matawa First Nations Management plans to install underground fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to all residential homes in the communities of Calstock (Constance Lake), Long Lake No. 58 First Nation, and Ginoogaming First Nation. The project involves the installation of approximately 365 kilometers of underground and aerial fiber optic cable beginning from Aroland along the edge of Crib Extension Road to the intersection of Highway 584 and Crib Road, fibre installation continues down Crib Road to Long Lake No. 58. Fibre continues along the intersection of Highway 11 to Calstock (Constance Lake). As well as 72 km of underground buried and aerial fibre to be deployed through Wunnumin Lake No.1 and No.2.

The cable is to be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments. Furthermore, cable is to be attached to existing or new support structures such as utility/telephone poles that parallel existing roadways. Support structures may require structural improvements to support cable attachments.
