Rockpoint Gas Storage Caisson Extension - Canadian Forces Base Suffield

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. There are currently two caissons for the 14" pipeline sender, leaving the sender encased in soil with no room for an inspection tool to be loaded. The caissons require expansion to facilitate the installation of a properly sized sender barrel and allow safe loading of inspection tools. This will require excavating between the two existing caissons and merging them into one larger caisson, as well as adding an extension to the caisson for a tool loading area.

Latest update

September 24, 2025— The authorities issued their Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
