Buffalo River Dene Nation Fire Hall

Buffalo River Dene Nation is proposing the construction of a new fire hall. The proposed fire hall will be located along Highway 925 within the core community area on the southwest side of Peter Pond Lake. The proposed project includes a fully serviced fire hall building with utility services including power, telephone, potable water supply, and sanitary sewer connection from nearby existing mains. The building is anticipated to be a single-story building with a mezzanine that includes two garage bays, offices, a shop area, a meeting room, a training room, and a break room with kitchen. The site will include parking for office and emergency crew employees. The site will be designed to accommodate access for the six-ton fire truck and ambulance that are to be stored in the new building's two garage bays. Additionally, the site will have an area to accommodate helicopter landing.

The proposed project activities include clearing and grubbing of existing vegetation, topsoil stripping over site area, installation of underground services, and construction of the building foundation, framing, exterior and interior.

Waste debris and material associated with the project will be disposed of at approved existing waste management facilities, and excess soil will be used on site for landscaping purposes, stockpiled for future use and/or removed to an appropriate approved location.
