RM Shellbrook Gravel Permit

Sturgeon Lake First Nation is requesting that ISC issue a 58(4)b permit for the removal of 21,000 y3 of gravel over a 3 year period (7000y3 - 2023, 7000y3 - 2024, 7000y3 - 2025)  from an already existing gravel pit on Sturgeon Lake First Nation land. No infrastructure or new roads are required to access the site and sand and gravel. Surface water is over 500 Metres away and no dewatering of the pit is expected. No vegetation, top or subsoil will need to be removed to access resource. No fuel tanks will be stored on site. All Health and Safety rules will be adhered to. Any spills will be cleaned up to acceptable standard and reported to the appropriate authority. Refueling will be done in a designated area and drip pans will be used to avoid spills and drips of fuel onto the ground.

August 30, 2023 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed RM of Shellbrook Gravel Permit is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
