Building 371- Fuel Oil and Condensate Tank Upgrades - 5 Wing Goose Bay
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project which comprises of the following main tasks:
- Removal and disposal of existing seven 20,000 Liter steel condensate tanks.
- Removal of existing condensate piping as required.
- Supply and installation of three new condensate tanks and new piping.
- Supply and installation of new piping and fittings.
- Removal and reinstallation of existing level controls.
- Removal of existing condensate water treatment system.
- Installation of new treated water control valve and bypass piping, and future treated water piping connection.
- All associated control and electrical work to facilitate piping modifications.
- All associated instrumentation and work required to install new control valve.
- Removal of the existing 125,000 Liter bulk fuel oil storage tanks and associated piping including cleaning, gas-free, removal, and proper disposal to waste facility.
- Removal of the existing concrete fuel tank pads and bollards.
- Installation of a new combined concrete containment pad and sump.
- Installation of new owner supplied 100,000 Liter Double Walled Fuel oil storage tanks on new concrete containment pad.
- Installation of new fuel oil fill, supply, and return piping, fittings, and valves to connect to existing.
- Installation of new fuel oil level monitoring and over-fill protection instrumentation and controls.
Latest update
August 17, 2022 – The public comment period on the project is closed. The Department of National Defence is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
