Auxiliary Power Unit Installation - 5 Wing Goose Bay

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project which includes the installation of the new Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) necessary for the Mess Hall operations during power outages.
Scope of project includes:
- Installation of concrete pads for the APU generator, the fuel oil storage tank and the pad-mounted transformer.
- Installation of the new packaged 1,000 kW generator and enclosure.
- Installation of the new fuel oil storage tank with capacity of 9,100 liters and all associated piping.
- Installation of the underground duct bank for electrical service from transformer to generator.
- Installation of the underground duct bank for electrical service from generator to service entrance board.
- Installation of the underground duct bank for electrical service from terminal pole to transformer.
- Installation of the underground conduit for grounding conductor.
- Installation of the underground conduit for fire alarm communications.
- Removal of the underground duct bank for electrical service from the existing transformer to the service entrance board.
- Removal and relocation of the existing 1500 kVA pad-mounted transformer from the existing concrete pad to new location.

November 23, 2021— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
