Lac Seul First Nation Broadband Upgrade

1. Build two new 36 meter self-supporting towers in sites that are partially disturbed. Frenchmen's Head West Tower Site 4 will require 200 square meters of trees will be felled and left on the ground, the remainder of the tower area is already disturbed (200 square meters). A foundation will be dug at base of tower and a shelter placed with a hydro connection. Frenchmens' Head Tower Site 5 will require 200 square meters of trees will be felled and left on the ground, the remainder of the tower area is already disturbed (200 square meters). A foundation will be dug at base of tower and a shelter placed with a hydro connection. Whitefish Bay Tower Site 2 will be repaired in the existing disturbed site.

2. Direct bury 6.5 km of new Lac Seul owned fibre along existing roadway and water line right of ways. Trenching will be completed and covered with fibre markers identifying the route.

3. Lay 2km of new underwater fibre in Lac Seul between the Kejick Bay boat launch and the Whitefish Bay landing.

2022/12/13 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination (iaac-aeic.gc.ca) and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

 

November 9, 2022 – Indigenous Services Canada intends to make a determination regarding whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting public comments Lac Seul First Nation Broadband Upgrade (iaac-aeic.gc.ca) until December 9, 2022 respecting the determination.
