Deschambault Lake Diesel Generating Station

A Phase II environmental site assessment at the former SaskPower electrical generating station in Deschambault Lake (Parcel T, Plan 66PA07010) has identified soil impacts have concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons and metals (chromium and nickel) above Provincial criteria.  A Corrective Action Plan has been prepared for the removal (excavation) of the impacted soil for disposal at a class II Industrial Landfill.  The National Classification System for Contamineted Sites scope is 51.7.  Approximated soil volume for removal is 640 m3.  Consultation with the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation is underway.  Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the excavation is proposed to be scheduled between April 1, 2021 and Sept 30, 2021.

The Corrective Action Plan will be provided to the Saskatchewan contact for the purpose for land access and band council resolution document preparation.  Site drawings and project details are contained in the Corrective Action Plan.
