Mobile Solar Water Pump System for Cattle Grazing

Grasslands National Park plans to deploy up to five mobile solar water pump systems over 1.2 m tall in Grasslands National Park as needed to support grazing management. These units are prefabricated compact solar-powered pump and drinking trough systems mounted on wheels trailers to allow them to be easily moved between pastures. Water from dugouts or natural waterbodies will be pumped using solar power through a supply line to a water trough for livestock consumption. Some areas where these systems will be used are on Schedule 1 of the Emergency Order for the Protection of the Greater Sage-Grouse, which prohibits the installation of structures over 1.2 m tall. Proposed work will be assessed with a Basic Impact Assessment.
