Regional Assessment of Offshore Wind Development in Newfoundland and Labrador

There are now two regional assessments. For the Nova Scotia regional assessment, please visit Regional Assessment of Offshore Wind Development in Nova Scotia.

The Regional Assessment will be conducted for areas offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. The Committee will engage Indigenous groups, federal and provincial authorities, non-government organizations and the public during the conduct of the Regional Assessment. The Regional Assessment will help inform future project-specific federal impact assessments and decisions for offshore wind projects in these areas.

Latest update

February 7, 2025 — On January 23, 2025, the Committee for the Regional Assessment of Offshore Wind Development in Newfoundland and Labrador submitted its Final Regional Assessment Report to federal and provincial Ministers. The Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador will review this report and determine next steps.
