Channel Wall Reconstruction at Fox Island River SCH, NL
This is a non-designated project on federal lands or outside Canada. The listed authorities are responsible for the project assessment.
The proposed project at Fox Island River SCH includes the demolition, removal, and replacement of the northeastern marginal wharf. In addition to the marginal wharf replacement, the proposed project will include: the replacement of the asphalt parking area; the removal and re-installation of shoreline protection; the installation of a jib crane and light pole; and the installation of a new electrical shed. The existing wharf is composed of steel sheet piling (SSP) walls, tie rods, concrete blocks, and rock fill. The demolition process will require excavation of the existing marginal wharf's footprint, and the existing parking lot area, and the removal of shoreline protection on the southeastern side of the property for later re-installation. The replacement SSP wharf will be constructed in a similar manner to the existing marginal wharf, and be topped off with reinforced concrete slabs. The jib crane will be installed on the northwestern side of the marginal wharf, and the light pole will be installed in the northeastern corner of the marginal wharf. The new electrical shed will be installed on the southeastern side of the property, protected by the re-installed shoreline protection.
