Decommissioning of Whiteshell Laboratories (Archived)

Description: Atomic Energy of Canada Limited has submitted a proposal to decommission the Whiteshell Nuclear Research Laboratories in Pinawa, in the southeastern part of the province.

Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On April 2, 2002, following a review of public comments and the environmental assessment report, the Minister concluded that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and referred the project back to the responsible authorities for appropriate next steps.
