Makkovik RCMP Building Demolition and Site Redevelopment

The proposed project consists of the demolition of an existing RCMP trailer and site works such as clearing, grubbing, placement of fill in order to prepare the site for the development of a new Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Conservation and Protection (C&P) facility. The new C&P facility will include the placement of an existing accommodations trailer and the construction of a new 115 square metre boat storage building on the site. The entire site will be enclosed with a new chain link fence. The trailer and building will be connected to existing utilities. Standard construction equipment, such as excavators, dump trucks and manual labour will be utilized for the proposed project. It is anticipated that the proposed project will occur during the 2022 construction season. The handling and disposal of wastes generated from the project will be in accordance with applicable legislation, regulations and guidelines.

August 12, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Real Property Safety and Security has issued its Notice of Determination after evaluation of the project and has determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects with mitigation measures as outlined in their evaluation and can therefore proceed.
