Grand-Mère Hydro-electric Facility (Archived)

Description: Hydro-Québec has submitted a proposal to build a new hydro-electric facility at the Grand-Mère site on the Saint-Maurice River, in the Mauricie region, to replace the existing facility which is nearing the end of its service life.
Decision of the Minister of the Environment: On January 12, 2000, following a review of public comments and the environmental assessment report, the Minister concluded that the project is unlikely to cause significant adverse environmental effects and referred the project back to the responsible authority for appropriate next steps.
