Canadian Millennium Pipeline Project

About the Project

St. Clair Pipelines (1996) Ltd. has applied to the Board for authorization to construct and operate a new 74 km, 914 mm (36 inch) gas pipeline and related facilities extending from Dawn, near Sarnia Ontario, to the shore of Lake Erie near Patrick Point, 25 km southwest of Port Stanley, Ontario (the "Millennium West Pipeline"). TransCanada PipeLines Limited has filed an application with the Board, seeking approval to construct and operate a new 97 km, 914 mm (36 inch) gas pipeline, interconnecting with the Millennium West Pipeline and extending from the Canadian shore of Lake Erie near Patrick Point across the lake to interconnect beneath the waters of Lake Erie, on the international border with the United States, with facilities proposed by Millennium Pipeline Company, L.P. (the "Lake Erie Crossing Pipeline"). From shore to shore, the proposed lake crossing is approximately 142 km long.

The two proposed pipelines are collectively referred to as the "Canadian Millennium Pipeline Project". Pursuant to section 15(2) of the CEAA, these two proposed pipelines will be considered as a single project for environmental assessment purposes.
