Reasons for a Federal Assessment
On April 12, 2006, it was determined that an environmental assessment was required in relation to the project because Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions considered providing financial assistance to the proponent.

The scope of the project includes the following : underground water research; the abandonment of the surface water supply in the lake of the East; the installation of the wells No 1, 2 and 4 of a total extraction capacity of 499 000 m3/a; the installation of fences and landscaping; connection to the service building; the installation of the water treatment system, including the construction of a service building and the installation of a power generating unit; connection to the aqueduct network; modifications of the aqueduct system configuration to loop the network between the Trois Monts road and the Vimy road; corrective work to the existing tank; exploitation of the underground water and closing down of the wells No 1, 2 and 4, at the end of the useful infrastructures lifetime.
Final Decision
