Beaver First Nation Child & Family Services Prevention Building

Beaver First Nation plans to build a Child and Family Services building. A stand alone ±2,800m² building will be constructed for the FNCFS Program which oversees and provides contribution funding for the ongoing provision of culturally appropriate prevention, including early intervention and least intrusive measures, and legislated protection services in order to respond to child maltreatment, support family preservation and well-being, including cultural and linguistic connections for First Nations children, youth and families on reserve. The building will house approx. 25 staff daily with the ability to support 250 nation members for cultural functions. The building lifespan is expected to be ±50 years.

 

The project includes a ±2,800m² building, garage ±400m², cistern tanks (2 total - potable / sewage), asphalt drive lanes, concrete sidewalks and stoops, landscaping for counseling and community function/engagements. Stand alone infrastructure will be direct gas fired mechanical systems and triple phase power to building, fibre optic, and mix of solar and power (to be confirmed). No fuel tanks required.

April 24, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada issued its Notice of Determination (iaac-aeic.gc.ca) and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
