Good Afternoon,

I am writing in support of the DeHavilland project west of Strathmore as this project is important to the growth of the rural areas.  Those who say that the land and animals will be affected should remember the fact that the land was broken probably 100 years ago that affected the environment. The affect of humans from the beginning of our species has changed the world we live on.  The farmland that will be used is no different than the land that is used to build communities around large cities. What is important to me is the fact that in this province only about 14% of the Alberta population lives in rural communities.  As farm land is consolidated into larger farms and modern equipment greatly reduces the amount of labour required on farms, rural areas have depopulated for lack of opportunities.  Our rural communities are dying as our young people move to larger places for jobs and education.  Opportunities to bring projects like this to smaller communities provide an opportunity for smaller communities to grow, by labour living in smaller communities like Cheadle, like Carseland, like Namaka, Strathmore (though not a small community anymore) and throughout the county. It also means new businesses that will support those workers by providing goods and services. It also brings technological proficient people into our area who may one day start their own business and create new technologies. It ensure that our existing infrastructure and schools have more potential for growth.   Finally the DeHavilland name is Canada at its best, when we actually designed and built our own aircraft, that help Canada grow and develop by flying supplies to Canad's remotest points.  I want to see the next Beaver, Otter, and Dash built here in Canada, by our young people who will build a Canada that can be a world leader in technology and not have to buy things from countries that don't have our best interests at heart. This project inspires me, this project should not be held up unnecessairly and I believe that the owners of this project will undertake acceptable practices to limit the inpact to neighbors and the environment.  I hope the Federal Government will find an acceptable balance that will ensure impact is reasonably managed, but not to the point where this project fails to go forward. Thank you for the opportunity to add my comments to this study.

Respectfully,

Einar Davison
