I think we need a thorough review of the academic credentials of people collecting data, analyzing it, and making biological conclusions about effects of offshore oil exploration and extraction activity (including oil spills) in Newfoundland – this includes individuals in industry, government and academia. If they don’t have degrees in Biology they have no certification to be doing biological science. This issue among others has led to the impression that effects monitoring and response are merely a pseudo-scientific charade here intended to promote an environmentally damaging industry that is a disaster for both our region and our planet.
