The Proposed Project

The Sexual Health and Reproductive Education (SHARE) project is funded by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada and is implemented by a consortium led by Right to Play International, in collaboration with WaterAid and the Forum for African Women Educationalists. This project aims to help adolescents, young adults and their communities access better sexual and reproductive health care in Mozambique, Ghana and Uganda. In this context, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities will be constructed and rehabilitated to improve WASH services in 4 Health Care Facilities in Uganda (2 each in the Buyende and Adjumani districts). Key physical works include demolishing existing (structurally unsound) toilet blocks and bathing shelters; constructing toilet blocks with washrooms, a medical waste incinerator with shed, placenta and ash pits, external stand-alone bathing blocks/shelters with soak pits, and permanent public handwashing facilities; rehabilitating additional toilet blocks and rainwater harvesting systems; and installing fencing (around placenta and ash pits, and incinerators) and medical laboratory/maternity ward sinks (connected to a piped water supply system).
