Notice of intent to make a determination
Flying Dust First Nation Regional Landfill – Public Comments Invited

July 4, 2024 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Flying Dust First Nation Regional Landfill, located in [project location] is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Flying Dust First Nation is proposing to construct a new regional landfill to service the community. The landfill will be situated approximately 7.5 km east of the Flying Dust First Nation's community core area, bounded by Highway 55 along the northern extents of the site. The project will include the construction of a new 4.5 hectare landfill cell (sized for 10 year capacity), 2.5 hectare leachate collection pond, recyclable and refuse materials transfer area, site roadways, and compost area. The project will also include support buildings, consisting of an entrance kiosk building with weigh scale and a maintenance building.
