Building demolition - Public comments invited 

June 13, 2024 As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Building demolition, located at 7028 York Road, Richmond is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. 

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

Written comments must be submitted by July 12, 2024.

The proposed project

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority – Planning and Development, are proposing to demolish a multi-structure facility located at 7028 York Road, Richmond, which was once a bio energy facility. The structures to be demolished and removed include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilities, including, gas, water, sanitary, communication and electrical services
  • Buildings and structures including, a two-level office, pre-treatment building, percolation building, mechanical and electrical buildings, digesters and concrete water storage reservoirs
  • Any other associated or miscellaneous structures and utilities

A new electrical service would be installed for the existing scale and office trailer remaining at the site entrance.
