Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination

May 17, 2024 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing the Defence Capability Infrastructure (DCI) project that will provide the infrastructure required to support the accommodation, operation and maintenance support for the 360 new Armoured Combat Support Vehicles (ACSV) at 3rd Canadian Division Support Group (3 CDSG) Edmonton, Alberta.

To facilitate the new ACSV, infrastructure to accommodate approximately 9 bays with an estimated total gross floor area of 4,400m² is required. The project site is located on a fully serviced lot that is currently vacant and fully grassed. The building will utilize existing roadways for access and will be connected to existing utilities.
