Proposed Project

Kahkewistahaw First Nation is proposing to construct a new water treatment plant in the vicinity of the old band office. The proposed new water treatment plant will be located across the street from the existing water treatment plant.  The new plant will be tied into existing underground water in sewer mains.  There will also be a new raw water main installed and well building at the well site.  The raw water main will follow the routing of the existing raw water main. Project activities will include stripping of topsoil in the work site, installation of the infrastructure and replacement of topsoil where possible.  Where topsoil is not replaced, granular fill shall be used for parking and or vehicle access. The entire proposed work areas have been previously disturbed to accommodate infrastructure installation.  Currently the proposed water treatment plant site houses the old band office and other administration trailers that are no longer used.
