The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) is proposing the construction of a smoke abatement system at the building m 59. The new smoke abatement system will support Canadian industry, government and academia in fire resistance research, technology development and testing. The facility evaluates new products and novel assemblies that cannot be tested elsewhere in Canada providing a critical national service and efficient cost-effective pathway for new products to make it into the domestic construction industry market.  The proposed project would take place on National Research Council Canada (NRC) owned lands (building m 59), but is subject to a federal land use, design, and real estate transaction approval under the National Capital Act. The project consists to install one smoke abatement system of 65,000 Cubic Feet pet Minute (CFPM) attached to the building m59 to ensure clean effluent generated from fire tests. No vegetation removal is anticipated for this project. The project work would take approximately two years from start to completion (September 2023 to September 2025).
