Misipawistik Cree Nation Cultural Centre – Public Comments Invited

April 4th, 2023Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) must determine whether the proposed Misipawistik Cree Nation Cultural Centre, located in Grand Rapids, MB is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Misipawistik Cree Nation will construct a two-storey cultural centre that includes spaces for gatherings and community meetings, feasts, traditional teachings and language classes, crafts, and games. The new cultural centre will be located in the northern portion of the community, along Highway 6. The building will be approximately 1,244 m2.
