The Proposed Project

The project is to re-build the main dock in front of the Northern Store on reserve in Poplar River First Nation. PRFN were successful in obtaining 750K from Prairies Economic Development under their CRF project # 22801. The project was deemed "minor works" by Transport Canada after performing a project review that concluded it would not obstruct a navigable waterway. The commercial wharf/dock is intended for both commercial and recreational use for PRFN. The dock has been destroyed & members are unable to launch or moor their boats. Fishers and eco-tourists have no means of visiting the community and securing their vessels. With a rebuild all community member will once again have access to the waterway. And hundreds of tourist will be able to access the community to begin their recreational enjoyment of the region.
