Project Summary: AltaLink Management Ltd. has proposed a complete replacement of the existing 54L transmission line, within the existing right of way. The 54L transmission line runs from the Banff National Park east boundary to the AltaLink Banff 123s substation within the Town of Banff. The transmission line rebuild will improve electric reliability to Banff and lake Louise, increase durability with new structures, and improve fire resilience with weathered steel structures. Main proposed activities include: vegetation removal, excavation, installation of bypass structures, replacement of transmission line, transportation of construction materials and equipment on site, and creating temporary staging area for construction material delivery. The project is planned to start in 2024 and will be completed within 2 years.

There will be a second opportunity to provide comments on the draft DIA report closer to the project start date.
