Notice of Determination for Fond du Lac First Nation Water Treatment Plant Expansion

November 19, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Fond du Lac First Nation Water Treatment Plant Expansion is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the existing water treatment plant at Fond du Lac First Nation requires more capacity, and the expansion/construction of the water treatment plant will benefit its membership
-the construction of the water treatment plant will provide employment opportunities for members of Fond du Lac First Nation
-no comments were received from the public about the project
-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures is required for the project:

- Solid waste generated during construction will be hauled to the community landfill

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
