Notice of Determination for the Red Earth River Dike Extension

February 25, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Red Earth River Dike Extension is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on the following factors:

-this project will help to prevent flood events to residential homes located on Red Earth IR 29A which will benefit the First Nation and its membership
-no public comments were received concerning the project
-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

-erosion protection practices will be in place, and work to occur in Winter months prior to spring melt
-fuel storage and machinery refueling practices
-work to occur outside bird nesting period

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
