Notice of determination for the Carry the Kettle First Nation - Nakota Junction Gas Station

January 28, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Carry the Kettle First Nation - Nakota Junction Gas Station is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the Chief & Council has requested by Band Council Resolution that a Capital funds be released to fund the construction of the gas station
-the continued operation of the Nakota Junction Gas Station will provide employment and training opportunities for members of the community
 -an updated emergency response plan will be submitted prior to the operation of the Gas Station
-the fuel storage tanks will be registered with Environment and Climate Change Canada
-all waste generated by the operation of the gas station will go to the CTK landfill
-the gas station will be connected to the community sewer system

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
