The Proposed Project

The project consists of repairing four stormwater outfalls and stabilizing the embankment using permanent riprap to reduce erosion at the outlet of the four culverts flowing into the Gulf of St. Lawrence, at the mouth of the Romaine River, in Unamen Shipu (La Romaine). The work will be conducted at the coves USC (outfalls 1 to 3) and USD (outfall 4). At the embankment toe, this project will encroach a total of 13.82 m² of fish habitat, principally at the outfall 3 (13.78 m²). The machinery will circulate at the top of the sandy beach or in an eroded embankment with little vegetation. The work will take place according to the periods of restriction applicable in marine environments, i.e., between July 15 and December 15, 2020. There is no sensitive habitat in the area and no species with precarious status is present.
