The Proposed Project

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) requires infrastructure to support 400 Squadron at CFB Borden now that it has completed the transformation from a Tactical Helicopter Squadron to an Air Maintenance Squadron. The transition of 400 Squadron was due to the rebalancing and centralization of 2nd line maintenance of the existing multi-role Griffon fleet assigned to 1 Wing.

Currently, select vehicle maintenance and transport operations along with aircraft material maintenance storage is conducted in Building P-156. Construction and renovation of the new H-18 infrastructure will allow all 400 Squadron maintenance required activities to be conducted at one location and reorganize the space utilized by the various shops. The renovation will also address existing health and safety concerns in H-18.

Anticipated H-18 renovations include the construction of a 1,839 m2 building addition attached to the existing H-18 via a corridor, a smaller 210 m2 building addition attached directly to H-18, as well as a 398 m2 second story addition.
