Regional Assessment of Offshore Oil and Gas Exploratory Drilling East of Newfoundland and Labrador — Draft Geographic Information System Decision-Support Tool now available

The Regional Assessment Committee has released the first version of the Geographic Information System (GIS) decision-support tool developed as part of the Regional Assessment of Offshore Oil and Gas Exploratory Drilling East of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The draft GIS decision-support tool contains a series of technical documents which provide additional information and analysis in support of the Regional Assessment Report and its findings. It includes an interactive mapping system, where geo-spatial information pertaining to the Study Area can be accessed, viewed, and analysed in a publicly accessible and user-friendly format for a variety of purposes. The GIS tool will be consistently updated and improved as it is developed.

The GIS tool can be accessed at the following link: https://nloffshorestudy.iciinnovations.com/mapviewer/

The Committee is inviting the public to access and use the tool, and to provide feedback and suggestions on the content, format, and functionality of the system as applicable.

The Committee will be holding a webinar on February 10, 2020, at 2:00 pm NST to provide more information about the use of the tool and how it can be applied. Please confirm your participation by e-mail to iaac.nloffshorestudy-etudeextracotieretnl.aeic@canada.ca. Log-in details for this webinar will be provided in advance of the session.

Written feedback in either official language will be accepted until March 19, 2020.
